How this calculator works
Your completed age is counted in whole years first, then whole months, then whole days — the same way you'd count it by hand on a calendar, comparing your date of birth against the "age as of" date. Dates are compared as calendar dates only; the time of day never affects the result.
Total Weeks is your total age in days divided by 7, rounded down to the nearest whole week — a few leftover days are normal and are already reflected in the Total Days figure next to it.
If you were born on 29 February, your birthday still lands correctly every year: since 29 February doesn't exist in a non-leap year, that year's birthday is treated as falling on 28 February instead, and the countdown to your next birthday follows the same rule. This is a calendar convention for this calculator only — recruitment and legal age rules may use a different convention, so always follow the date given in the applicable official notice.
Example
Someone born on 15 August 2000, checking their age as of 25 July 2026, would see 25 years, 11 months, 10 days — their next birthday (15 August 2026) is still 21 days away, so the completed-years count hasn't ticked over to 26 yet.
