Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0
The Government approved the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 on 5th May 2026 to provide targeted credit guarantee support to businesses affected by external disruptions. Implemented by the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC), the scheme aims to facilitate an additional credit flow of up to ₹2.55 lakh crore with government-backed guarantees. It covers MSMEs, eligible non-MSME businesses, and scheduled passenger airlines to preserve employment, enhance liquidity, and support business continuity.
National Biodiversity Authority Crosses ₹200-Crore Milestone in ABS Disbursement
The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has crossed a ₹200-crore milestone in cumulative Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) disbursements. It recently sanctioned ₹8.23 crore to 27 State Biodiversity Boards and 5 UT Biodiversity Councils using funds realized from seed companies for accessing biological resources like Bitter Gourd, Okra, Chilli, and Onion. The funds are distributed to states based on cultivation area, with Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra emerging as the largest cumulative recipients.

NFRA Constitutes Advisory Committee on Audit Quality, Assurance and Technology
The National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) has constituted an Advisory Committee on Audit Quality, Assurance and Technology under Rules 15 and 16 of the NFRA Rules 2018. The Committee comprises eminent experts from various stakeholder groups including professionals, CFOs, audit committees, independent directors, technology experts, regulators and industry representatives. This is the third such committee; the first Technical Advisory Committee was constituted in 2020 and ended in December 2022.

Geothermal Energy
India has notified the National Policy on Geothermal Energy (September 2025) to harness its rich geothermal resources as part of its Net Zero 2070 target. In July 2026, the country commissioned its first two geothermal wells in Puga Valley, Ladakh, marking the beginning of commercial geothermal energy development. India's theoretical geothermal potential stands at nearly 10.6 GW across 10 identified geothermal provinces.
NCPCR rescues over 3800 Children from Child Labour under a special Campaign
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) launched a special Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign from 12 June 2026 to 31 August 2026. Working with state governments, district magistrates, labour departments, and police, NCPCR successfully rescued over 3,800 children from child labour and trafficking. Over 575 FIRs were registered during the campaign.

CAQM conducts Special Industrial Inspection Drive in Nuh, Haryana; 17 out of 35 units found non-compliant
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) conducted a special industrial inspection drive in Nuh, Haryana on 03.09.2026, inspecting 35 industrial units. Of these, 17 units were found non-compliant with environmental norms and Consent to Operate conditions, 11 were compliant, and 7 were closed. Major violations included defective pollution control systems, inadequate fugitive dust control, non-compliant DG sets, unapproved fuels, and missing emission monitoring systems.
2,306 long pending pension grievances redressed during Special Campaign 3
The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare conducted Special Campaign 3 from 7 July to 31 August 2026 to resolve long-pending pension grievances. The campaign successfully redressed 2,306 cases out of 3,193 taken up, achieving a 72% redressal rate through coordinated efforts of 40 ministries and departments. Major successes included releasing substantial pension and family pension arrears to Defence pensioners and their dependents.
