DRI seizes 86 live Tokay Geckos in Assam in a crackdown on wildlife trafficking; two arrested
Officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted two individuals in Assam on September 22, 2026, and seized 86 live Tokay Geckos. The endangered animals were recovered during an operation targeting illegal wildlife trafficking and subsequently handed over to the local forest office. Two persons were arrested in connection with the operation.

DRI seizes around 21 kg foreign-origin gold worth Rs. 32 crore in crackdown on gold smuggling
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized around 21 kg of foreign-origin gold worth over Rs. 61 crore across two operations and arrested five people under the Customs Act, 1962. In one operation near Palwal Toll Plaza, officers recovered 15.18 kg of gold hidden inside a sophisticated chassis cavity of two Thar vehicles, while another operation near Jewar Toll Plaza yielded 5.8 kg of gold concealed in a waist belt. In the last three weeks, the DRI has seized around 123 kg of gold and 10 kg of silver valued at over Rs. 187 crore.
