Office of PSA convenes first ‘State Governments Nodal Officers Meeting’ to strengthen state-level coordination for wider access to Scientific and R&D infrastructure
The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser convened the first State Governments Nodal Officers Meeting for the I-STEM Portal on September 21, 2026. Chaired by Scientific Secretary Dr. Parvinder Maini, the meeting gathered nodal officers from 23 States and 4 UTs to strengthen state-level coordination, encourage institutional onboarding, and optimize the use of publicly funded scientific infrastructure. The I-STEM portal currently hosts over 31,000 instruments across nearly 4,000 institutions with more than 65,000 registered users.

Department of Telecommunications Cautions Citizens against fraudulent issuance of SIM cards, misuse of telecom identifiers, or tampering with IMEI numbers
The Department of Telecommunications Madhya Pradesh LSA took action after a PoS agent in Chhattisgarh illegally activated 25 mobile connections using citizens' documents without consent. The DoT warns that fraudulent SIM issuance, telecom identifier misuse, and IMEI tampering are punishable under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, carrying penalties of up to three years imprisonment and ₹50 lakh in fines. Citizens are advised to use the Sanchar Saathi Portal and Mobile App to verify their mobile connections and check device IMEI genuineness.
