  • to contractual employees for the post of Assistant Public Prosecutor: (i) The contractual employees are eligible for one time relaxation in upper age limit period of 5 years.
  • The quantum of age relaxation number of years spent in the department on contract, provided they have worked for at least 180 days (ii) The contractual employees, working at the time of recruitment, shall only be considered eligible for relaxation in age limit.
  • The contractual employees would be considered eligible for relaxation in upper age limit only for the department in which they are working 17 (iv) The contractual employees, who have already availed relaxation, granted by the respective department, are not eligible under the scheme.
  • Any contractual employee, whose service was terminated due to unsatisfactory work during their contractual employment, will be treated as ineligible for the benefit of relaxation in upper age.
  • The contractual employees may seek "age relaxation certificate from the department where they are working on contract and the department concerned, after examination of application in accordance with the above modalities, shall issue the certificate clearly indicating the quantum of age relaxation, the co-employee is eligible for.
  • The Certificate shall be issued with signature and seal of HoD concerned.
Selection Process
Recruitment is "by Selection" - primarily interview-based. Mere possession of the essential qualification does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
2 Where the number of applications is large, UPSC may apply shortlisting criteria: Desirable Qualifications, higher educational qualification, higher/relevant experience, or by holding a Recruitment Test (RT).
Minimum level of suitability in interview (out of 100 marks): UR - 50 marks, OBC - 45 marks, SC/ST/PH - 40 marks.
Where a Recruitment Test (RT) precedes the interview, candidates must clear the minimum suitability level at both the RT and interview stages.
5 Recruitment Test/Combined Recruitment Test (if held) will ordinarily be conducted at: Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Ranchi, and Visakhapatnam (for the Ladakh post: Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, and Delhi).
Shortlisted candidates must send self-attested copies of documents/certificates as and when demanded by the Commission.
Summoning for interview does not guarantee selection. Appointment orders are issued by the Government after final selection.
UPSC may grant higher initial pay to candidates adjudged meritorious in the interview.
Salary / Pay Scale

Level-11 plus NPA in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC. AGE: 40 years for UR/EWS and 45 years for SC.

  • 5 Failure to provide the required information/documents along with the Common Application Form (CAF) will entail cancellation of candidature for the post/vacancy.
  • 6 Note 1: One-time Edit Facility for URN Profile: The Commission provides a one-time facility for candidates to update or modify their Universal Registration Number (URN) Profile.
  • 7 Please note that any changes made to the URN Profile will not be reflected in application already submitted.
  • 8 The updated information will apply only to application submitted after the candidate has made the necessary changes and successfully re-locked the URN Profile.
