- Army wing: Class 12 in any stream. Air Force, Navy and the Naval Academy scheme: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates from some hill regions and the north-east get height relaxation. Exam Pattern and Syllabusपरीक्षा पैटर्न और सिलेबस

Estimate at the entry basic pay plus Military Service Pay, with DA paid on both. Armed forces officers are not in NPS, so nothing is cut for it. Not deducted here: income tax, the Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund (a savings contribution of at least 6% of pay) and group insurance, so the amount credited to your account is lower. Officers in field areas or government housing do not get HRA but get field and other allowances instead. During the final training year at IMA, INA or AFA, cadets get a fixed stipend of ₹56,100 a month; there is no stipend for the three years at NDA.
